Xiaowei Xu, the famous fashion photographer living and working in Shanghai, who has won multiple international award, puts on his solo exhibition “Trace” in Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre, to approach the subject of time and life.
XU Xiaowei defines the work as Trace, which can connect and reorganize the paused moments in his life, strong feelings on the elapsed time are expressed in these different spatial domains. Without space, there will be no time. Space and time go hand in hand in relativity theory while they are completely separated in absolute space. From the perspective of philosophy, space gives rise to time, and time is the origin of all matters. Whatever it may be, time is always elapsing, but the trace will stay forever. XU Xiaowei conveys the unspeakable message in the most plain and simple way to present the unveiled corner, where the passion for art lies.
Change continues, life goes on, leaving traces of existence.
Record them, as mementos.
